PAULINE THOMAS 2018
PAULINE THOMAS is a programme composed of two duets for Pauline Prato and Thomas Regnier.
A SMALL GUIDE ON HOW TO TREAT YOUR LIFETIME COMPANION was selected in 2011 for the European network Aerowaves and is now being reprised for the first time with a new cast. Inspired by François Ozon’s film 5×2, this work highlights five key moments in a relationship. In this love duet on 4 square metres, a relationship is stripped of its codes and turned into a case study: relational gestures receive a surprising connotation in the grey zone between tenderness and violence, between longing and indifference. It is a tender and intimate work that is both gentle and brutal.
In this new PAULINE THOMAS, the relation between music and movement takes centre stage. Learning, the complete first album by the American musician Perfume Genius, forms the basis for the choreography. In 10 clear and abstract tableaux, set to so many songs, Pauline and Thomas follow or contradict this naive, emotional and beautiful coming-of-age album in such a way that a newly assembled artwork emerges.
